Uh-oh. Disaster at mile 1586? While driving gently today the engine simply lost all power. I coasted to a stop and tried to start the car. There is what seems to be the sound of the starter motor, but nothing else at all. The engine does not crank at all. The electrical system works. Called 1-800-PORSCHE, who got me the Porsche roadside assistance number. They dispatched a flatbed truck which arrived fairly quickly. They said I could have it towed straight to a dealer, or to home today and to the dealer tomorrow. I decided to have it towed home so I wouldn't be stranded in San Rafael.

Was the exhaust note change related to the problem? Something just felt wrong.
